Confirmation
Confirmation is a sacrament which confirms the action of God in Baptism and strengthens individuals to become like Christ within the Christian community. The community should be involved in assisting the candidates to become more fully incorporated into the life of the Church.
Religious instruction is an important component of the preparation for Confirmation. The purpose of the instruction is to lead the candidate to a deeper faith and to grown more active in the life of the Church. Confirmation is a beginning of living a deeper faith and more active role in the parish. Growth in faith is a life-long response to God’s call.
Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation usually begins in the 7th or 8th grade in the parish school or PREP program. It is comprised of education, community service, a retreat experience and rights of enrichment. Adults being received into the Church are prepared through the RCIA process (See our Faith Formation tab on the home page for more information).
