SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Jesus set for his followers a three-step procedure for reconciling differences among the community. In the first step we are told to go one-on-one to the person and try to work out the problem. If that doesn’t work, we are to take some witnesses, or in the final case, bring the offender before representative of the Church. If reconciliation does not occur in the end, there is nothing more we can do and are told to walk away from the person.
Reflection: Reconciling differences is one of the most challenging jobs of parenthood. How often do we fly off the handle and accuse someone of wrongdoing rather than approach him/her rationally. When our children see us calmly, but firmly, address someone, naming the infraction and saying how the action made us feel, they learn that there are other ways besides hostile confrontation to work out differences.
PASTOR’S
DESK
On September 3 at the opening school Mass we blessed a beautiful icon of St. Paul that SVF parish has purchased for use during his Jubilee year of St. Paul. The Icon will be used as a source of prayers and reflection in church and during scripture related parish activities. Let us look to St. Paul as a model for our lives finding courage to remain faithful and to speak the Gospel with our lives.
Every
parish family received a letter from Fr. George describing $45,000 in repairs
and maintenance to our parish property. Please
use your gray "Capital Improvement" envelope dated September 14 to
help our parish cover these costs. No
donation is too small. Together, we
can share the burden of keeping St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in good repair.
ST.
VINCENT FERRER WILL HOST A SEMINARY INTERN FROM THE ATHENAEUM OF OHIO/MT. ST.
MARY’S SEMINARY IN CINCINNATI… Adam Puntel
Recently, Fr. George was notified that Adam Puntel, from Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary, would be assigned to his internship at St. Vincent Ferrer. Adam is studying for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. He is a member of Incarnation Parish in Centerville. Adam will serve as an intern at SVF from September 2008 through May 2009. While serving as an intern at SVF, he will reside with Fr. George at the rectory and his office will be next to Karen McMichael’s office in the parish community building. I know you will give Adam a warm SVF welcome when he arrives on September 8.
REMEMBERING

WORSHIP
COMMISSION
THE LITURGY SURVEY FROM AUGUST 24 IS BEING REVIEWED by the SVF Worship Commission. Many thanks to the 570 parishioners who completed the survey. Concerning the question about the possibility of moving the 12 Midnight Mass on Christmas to 10:00 p.m. – 65% of those who completed the survey think we should change the Mass to 10:00 p.m. We will keep you posted on other statistical results from the survey.
R.C.I.A ~ Rite for Christian Initiation of Adults
If you have been thinking about becoming Catholic, or if you’ve already been baptized Catholic but did not receive the additional sacraments, perhaps this year would be a good time to find out more about these issues of faith.

meeting you!
