SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
In
today’s Gospel, Jesus sends his disciples to carry his peace and healing into
uncertain areas where they and the Good News of Jesus may or may not be accepted
and welcomed. Today, the world of
the Twenty-first century is just as desperate for the peace and healing of
Jesus. And he still sends us, his
disciples, to risk uncertainty. Today,
we may find this uncertainty and desperate need to be as close as the parking
lot at the mall, our place of work, or within our own homes.
Living
the Word: Imagine
Jesus sitting next to you this minute saying, “Rejoice because your name is
written in heaven.”

THANKS
FOR THE BEAUTIFUL MASS & FAREWELL RECEPTION FOR JUDY VERNY AND SR. KAYE
LEDNIK ON JULY 1st
I wish to thank Jim
McCormick and all the members of SVF choir who did a beautiful job with the
liturgical music for the Mass. SVF
parishioner Ellen Brinker and SVF School principal Steve Zinser gave fitting
tributes to Judy and Sr. Kaye. Special
thanks to the many parishioners who put together a wonderful reception in the
cafeteria after Mass. May God bless
these wonderful servants of God for their years of dedication to St. Vincent
Ferrer.
CONDOLENCES
TO JUDY VERNY ON THE DEATH OF HER FATHER
Richard
“Tom” Babel who is Judy Verny’s father, died on June 23, 2007.
The funeral Mass was held out of town on June 25.
Please remember them in your prayers.
-Fr. George Kunkel
TRUE FREEDOM
Dear Lord, we misunderstand freedom
believing that it is the ability to
do whatever we want.
Help us always to remember that freedom,
true freedom, is being able to do
what we ought to do.
That freedom, true freedom,
is not indulging our every want and whim,
but instead is the ability to
rise above any desires
that are wrong, disordered, dangerous
or excessive.
Give us the grace always to remember
that true freedom makes us the people
you wish us to be, that true freedom brings
us closer to you, and reshapes our world in
the likeness of your kingdom. -Amen
IN MEMORIAM
Your prayers are requested for the soul of Joseph Cappel whose funeral service was held July 3.

DID
YOU KNOW?
Are you age 70 ½ or older? Do you have
a traditional IRA? If so, you know that you must receive a minimum
distribution from your IRA each year, and pay taxes on that distribution.
But
did you know that recent legislation allows you to take a distribution during
2007 and NOT pay taxes on it – by donating it to St. Vincent Ferrer Parish?
This can be a big help, both to the Parish and to your tax bill! Contact the
Parish Business Manager, Marc Greenberg, at 791-9030 for more information.
ST. VINCENT FOR THE
POOR
Our next-door collection for our St. Vincent for the Poor Society will take place the weekend of July 14 & 15. The baskets will be in the back of Church. Your generosity is appreciated.
Please
keep in your prayers all the men and women who are currently in the military
serving our country.
In
The Hospital or Recovering at Home:
So
that as a parish we can keep in our prayers those in our community who are ill,
St. Vincent Ferrer Parish would like to publish the names of those parishioners
and their families who are in the hospital, recovering from an illness or going
through treatments. We ask that you
contact the Parish Office at 791-9030.

and ministry at the Athenaeum of Ohio/Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary in Cincinnati.
Screen
Saved
Peril and promise of
media in ministry
By:
Dan Andriacco
Library Code:
Spirituality
To minister
effectively in a media age, Christians must have an understanding of the culture
industries: their content, their
methodology and their pervasive influence.
The average American spends five to eight hours each day watching TV,
listening to the radio and recorded music, and reading magazines and newspapers.
How can you compete with a media that constantly saturates our world with
non-Christian views and ideals? In Screen Saved, Andriacco defines the dangers of media and
provides the tools to make it a powerful ally.
Learn how TV, advertising, print and the Internet create and define our
culture by embarking on a media “fast.”
Understand which media can be effective in ministry and which should be
left out – and why. Transform
your ministry by becoming a medium through which Christ reaches other people.
Taming
the Media Monster
Family
guide to television, Internet and all the rest
By:
Dan Andriacco
Code:
Spirituality
The
presence and influence of mass media – television, the Internet, newspapers,
advertisements – are everywhere. Understanding
how and why media have so much influence in our culture and how and why media
have so much influence in our culture and how to resist that influence when it
opposes Christian values is a task every family must face.
In Taming the Media Monster, Andriacco offers some
practical suggestions to help families become media literate.
With guidelines for decreasing the quantity and increasing the quality of
media exposure, this book examines both the positive and negative aspects of
various media forms and offers specific tactics for dealing with each.
Navigating
a sensible course between the extremes of uncritically consuming media and
shunning it altogether. Taming
the Media Monster can show you how to make a powerful ally out of this
potential foe. By using the
principles in this book, you can help transform your family from passive media
consumers to mindful media connoisseurs.

VINCENT de PAUL FAN DRIVE
Many
of the families we assist live in older apartments without air conditioning.
During the summer the old, sick, and very young suffer terribly in the
heat. Our Fan and Air Conditioner
Drive helps folks like this. Through August 12, you can bring a new fan or air
conditioner to Coney Island and receive a discount on your admission.
All of our six stores will also conveniently be accepting fans and air
conditioners. Or you may make a
monetary donation at any Huntington Bank. Your
generosity will allow us to help so many people in Cincinnati neighborhoods this
summer.
Here’s
another way you can help. Order a Papa John’s pizza on Thursday, July 12th,
and Papa John’s will donate $1 to the St. Vincent de Paul Fan Drive. The
money collected will be used by St. Vincent de Paul to buy fans and air
conditioners.
GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP
