15th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

We hear how the early Church began in today's gospel, with the disciples being sent out two by two to continue the work begun by Jesus. Jesus explained to the new missionaries that not all people would be ready to hear what they had to say, but they should not linger with those people. Those who rejected the message would be to face God's judgment. Community was important as Jesus established his Church on earth and continues to be the essence of the Church today. Two by two, the disciples needed one another. We need one another as well.

Reflection:  “Simplicity” is a key word for many families. “Getting back to the basics” has become a goal. Have each person think about the things he/she does that burden or take away from other members of the family. What adjustments can you make to travel light, as Jesus' disciples did, and reach out to one another and those in your community who might also benefit by your sharing the Good News of Jesus?

GIFTS OF STOCK TO SVF

Its now easier than ever to donate stock to our parish.  As of July 1, 2009, St. Vincent Ferrer Parish has its own stock account at Fifth Third Bank.  In the past, donations of stock had to be sold through the Archdiocese.  It sometimes took weeks before we received any funds.  Now the parish can receive stock directly, and Fifth Third will sell the stock and send us the funds all within a few business days.  Please call Marc Greenberg, our Business Manager, for details on using our new stock account.  If you have made stock donations in the past, please call Marc to receive new broker instructions.

PHOTOGRAPHS POSTED FROM SVF FESTIVAL FOR 2009

There are many photos of parishioners attending our Festival.  They are on easels near the front entrance of the church.  Many thanks to Debbie Kamp for taking the pictures and putting them into a collage.

MISSION APPEAL – SECOND COLLECTION

July 11 & 12

Schoenstatt Father Peter Locher will be coming to St. Vincent’s on July 11 & 12 for a mission appeal.

The Schoenstatt Fathers are part of the international Schoenstatt Movement founded by Father Joseph Kentenich in 1914. Several religious communities are part of the Movement, the Schoenstatt Fathers being the youngest with 380 members working in all continents.

Schoenstatt Fathers have 40 priests and 130 seminarians. The Schoenstatt Fathers in India are just now in the position to develop several projects to realize their charism within the demands of the country. They aim at developing a center of spiritual renewal, a children's village for deserted and neglected children, predominantly girls, and a school for qualified formation of the growing middle class in the country. For these projects they appeal to your solidarity and ask for your generous support.

-Fr. George Kunkel

TAKE OUT – Family Faith on the Go

Faith and Fun All Summer Long

Parents, don’t forget to look over the handout that you received.  Keep it close at hand this summer as a faith sharing resource.

July 12th ~ 15th Sunday of Ordinary Time

For this week’s reflection … in today’s Gospel, Jesus sends his disciples out and tells them that they are to share his mission.  What was the mission the disciples were given?  What is the mission we, as a family, are called to live?

When was the last time you had a good old fashion picnic?  Read pg. 7 of TAKE OUT for details.

How do you get away from problems, distractions, and worry?  You may want to read “Star Light, Star Bright” on the back cover of TAKE OUT.

In addition to “TAKE OUT”…

There are also copies in the back of Church of In Focus Summer Sundays - Fun under the Catholic Sun.  Please pick up your family’s copy.  This year, make the Sabbath a day of genuine rest and recreation by recalling old traditions and creating a few new ones as well.  Let your imagination and creativity increase your faith … and enjoy the lazy, hazy days of summer Sundays while you’re at it.
