Ex 24:3-8  Heb 9:11-15  Mk 14:12-16,22-26

covenant by offering a thanksgiving sacrifice and

by sprinkling blood over the people.  The new

blood of Christ, the unblemished offering poured

TRINITY SUNDAY

The gospel reading today concludes the book of Matthew.  It was at this point that Jesus, knowing he was about to return to the Father, commissioned the apostles to carry the message of the Good News into all the world.  They would baptize, make more disciples, and teach the message Jesus had brought them.  Jesus made it clear that his ascension did not mark an absence; he would always be with them.  This gospel message is the foundation of the Church and makes clear what we are called to do and be.

Reflection: During the past weeks we have been reminded often by Jesus that he will not leave us alone.  Sometimes it’s had to explain where someone is whom we can’t see.  Like the people in the early Church we have faith but we also have doubt.  Share ideas with one another about where we can look for Jesus.  In what way can you help others know Jesus’ presence?

PASTOR’S DESK

SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER!

Another school year ended here at SVF this past Friday.  The SVF class of 2009 graduated on Thursday evening, June 4 at 7:00 p.m.  We are truly proud of them and pray that our Lord will watch over them in their future endeavors!  We want to thank all of our faculty, students and parent volunteers for helping to make it a very successful year.

MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART

June is the month that is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  This is one of the most beautiful devotions in the Church and is a constant reminder of the unconditional love God has for each one of us.  Jesus’ example of reconciling love is a good message for all of us as we look forward to spending time with family and friends in the coming days of summer.

FESTIVAL COCKTAIL PARTY

Thanks to everyone who supported and attended the Festival Cocktail Party at Mark Sweeney Auto on May 29.  It was a success both as a fundraiser and as a wonderful social gathering for our parish.

CATHOLIC MINISTRIES APPEAL

To date $16,937 has been pledged towards our parish goal for the Catholic Ministries Appeal.  If you have yet to make a pledge, you will be receiving in the mail this week a letter encouraging you to make a pledge or payment. The six ministries that benefit from this appeal are the education of seminarians, deacons & lay pastoral ministers; Catholic Social Services; Chaplains for hospitals and prisons; College campus ministers; St. Rita School for the Deaf; and the retirement fund for diocesan priests.    We encourage all parishioners to participate. Please make all checks payable to “Catholic Ministries Appeal” and mail them directly to the Archdiocese using the white “CMA” envelope mailed to each household.

-Fr. George Kunkel

VOCATION VIEW

Today we celebrate a central mystery of our faith.  Our triune God calls us to be his own and blesses us on our life journey.  What impact does this mystery have on your vocation?

(Psalm 34)

TAKE OUT – Family Faith on the Go

Faith and Fun All Summer Long

Parents, don’t forget to look over the handout that you received.  Keep it close at hand this summer as a faith sharing resource.

June 7th ~ Feast of the Holy Trinity

For this week’s reflections on the Feast of the Holy Trinity, the Gospel Reading is from Matthew 28: 16-20.  As a family, spend some time raising your awareness of God the Father, Creator; Jesus, Our Brother; The Holy Spirit, Source of Love and Wisdom.  How do you experience The Trinity in your everyday life?

In the Gospel, Jesus asks us to teach others today, too.  How you teach others?  In what other ways could you teach?

In addition to “TAKE OUT”…

There are also copies in the back of Church of In Focus Summer Sundays - Fun under the Catholic Sun.  Please pick up your family’s copy.  This year, make the Sabbath a day of genuine rest and recreation by recalling old traditions and creating a few new ones as well.  Let your imagination and creativity increase your faith … and enjoy the lazy, hazy days of summer Sundays while you’re at it.

BULLETIN INSERTS

Please call the parish office to get your bulletin insert on the calendar.  All inserts must be put on the insert calendar as soon as possible. (The number of inserts are limited to 2 per week) and the copies need to be in the Parish office by Wednesday morning.  This will allow the bulletin stuffers ample time to adjust their calendar for volunteer time.  A special thanks to our volunteer bulletin stuffers, we appreciate your help!
