12th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

In today’s Gospel, Jesus calls us to integrity of faith.  But being open and evident about our Christian way of life can be difficult for us.  In fact, it isn’t uncommon to hear serious criticism expressed toward our Catholic beliefs.  There are times when we know we should articulate our beliefs but we’re timid.  Yet, we feel a great unrest about ourselves when we do not speak what we believe.  Jesus tells us “Do not be afraid.”

Prayer Moment: May I profess you in word and deed, Lord Jesus.

PASTOR’S DESK

JUBILEE YEAR OF SAINT PAUL BEGINS JUNE 29TH

On June 29 we celebrate the Solemnity of Sts Peter and Paul.  Despite the trials and tribulations that came their way, Sts Peter and Paul remained faithful to God, who, in turn, was always faithful to them.  As we begin this year of jubilee honoring St. Paul, let us look to him as a model for our lives, finding courage to remain faithful and to speak the Gospel with our lives.

THANK YOU…

To the new Ushers at the 10:30 a.m. Mass – Paul Korcheck, Tom Hughes, Andy Ritter & Emilio Deluca.  New Eucharistic Ministers at Carriage Court – Sue Rider, Barbara Dahl & Mary Apke.  Thanks for volunteering to help.

LOOKING AHEAD

Our country celebrates its 232nd Independence Day Friday, July 4.  It seems most appropriate to celebrate Independence Day by thanking God for all the blessings that have been bestowed on our country.

Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 4th at 9:00 a.m. in the Church.  All Parish Offices will be closed in observance of the holiday

CATHOLIC MINISTRIES APPEAL

The Catholic Ministries Appeal continues this week in our parish.  Our parish response to the Catholic Ministries Appeal to date is $17,389.  We have reached 56% of our parish goal. We are most grateful to those who have been so generous.  We ask that everyone in our parish participate with a gift of any amount.  Every gift helps.

                -Fr. George Kunkel

CALENDAR SCHEDULING FOR 2008-2009

EVERY group or organization that regularly meets or hosts events at SVF should submit to the parish office in writing their desired dates, times and room the group wishes to reserve for the 2008-2009 year (August-June).  Please list a contact person who will be responsible for clean up and security and if set-up time is needed.  Should any conflicts arise throughout the year this person will be contacted.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance.

REFUGEE TRAIL  - Darfur to Cairo

Comboni Fathers Achilles Kiwanuka and Richard Kyankaaga, two African missionaries with extensive experience ministering to refugees, will give us a firsthand account of what refugee life is like for so many of the unheard victims of the humanitarian crisis in South Sudan.  It will help us understand why pole have to leave their own home, land and country, and often their families.  These priests will make us more deeply aware of our common faith in the Lord Jesus who is leading the history of the refugees and ours as well.

When: July 1, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: New Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road, Anderson Township, Ohio 45230

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS SIGN AT

ST. VINCENT FERRER?

This sign tells you that there is an AED in the building.  An AED is an Automated External Defibrillator.  It is a machine that can help save a life.  This sign at the entrance to the Community Building alerts everyone that we have an AED there.  The AED is located directly across from the entrance to the parish office in the hallway of the Community Building.  It is behind a locked glass case next to the fire extinguisher.  You break the glass to get the AED in an emergency medical situation for someone who loses consciousness and has no pulse.  Many people already know how to use the AED.  This may be important if you are coaching, helping with concessions or are attending an event. Please share this information with your entire family.
