11th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

“Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give”.  This is our mission.  Through no merit of our own, we inherit the Kingdom of God in the sacrifice of Jesus.  Thus, what is ours – the love of Jesus – we are to give to others.  We offer the Good News to those we encounter every day.  We give of ourselves for the good of others – without considering or expecting what might be due us in return – for without cost we have received paradise.

Prayer Moment: Without cost I have received life through you, Dear Jesus.  Without cost I give.

PASTOR’S DESK

FATHER’S DAY               2112.0028.tif

We wish all fathers and grandfathers a Happy Father’s Day.  If they are deceased, let us remember them in prayer.  Let us remember all the special men in our lives, a husband who may not be a father, and our brothers, uncles, cousins, men religious and friends who have been special role models for us.  May God bless you all.

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES FOR EUCHARISITIC MINISTERS

Call Fr. George Kunkel if interested….

Eucharistic Ministers are needed for distributing Holy Communion after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays to the patients at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood.  You would be scheduled once every eight weeks with other SVF parishioners.

REFUGEE TRAIL  -   Darfur to Cairo

Comboni Fathers Achilles Kiwanuka and Richard Kyankaaga, two African missionaries with extensive experience ministering to refugees, will give us a firsthand account of what refugee life is like for so many of the unheard victims of the humanitarian crisis in South Sudan.  It will help us understand why pole have to leave their own home, land and country, and often their families.  These priests will make us more deeply aware of our common faith in the Lord Jesus who is leading the history of the refugees and ours as well.

OTHER PARISH NEWS

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS SIGN AT

ST. VINCENT FERRER?

This sign tells you that there is an AED in the building.  An AED is an Automated External Defibrillator.  It is a machine that can help save a life.  This sign at the entrance to the Community Building alerts everyone that we have an AED there.  The AED is located directly across from the entrance to the parish office in the hallway of the Community Building.  It is behind a locked glass case next to the fire extinguisher.  You break the glass to get the AED in an emergency medical situation for someone who loses consciousness and has no pulse.  Many people already know how to use the AED.  This may be important if you are coaching, helping with concessions or are attending an event. Please share this information with your entire family.

NOW IT’S DAD’S TIME TO BE REMEMBERED

UPCOMING PRESENTATION OF A PRODUCTION CALLED JERRY SPRINGER: THE OPERA IN CONCERT

Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk has received some inquires wanting to know how Catholics should react to the upcoming presentation in Cincinnati of a production called Jerry Springer: The Opera in Concert.  Judging by accounts, it appears to be a sophomoric endeavor deeply offensive to Christians.  It has been called blasphemous.  Understandably, there will be protests.  Experience indicates, however, that the more attention given to this affront the more tickets will be sold.  The Archbishop believes that the best posture we can assume is that of silent contempt.

"LET THE SON SHINE IN!"
The third amazing Eucharistic event in the Cincinnati tri-state area will occur on June 21st, 7:30-9:30pm, at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Anderson Township! The Tri-State Eucharistic Festivals of Praise are for people of ALL ages with the purpose of drawing Catholics into a deeper personal relationship with our Eucharistic Lord, deepening their desire to receive Him frequently in Holy Communion at Mass, and setting people's hearts on fire for God and His Church so as to better be His hands and feet in this world. There will be opportunities for confession, and fellowship will follow. Our Lord is not far away, but among us truly present in the Eucharist and wants to spend time with us and wants us to know His love.  Let us rejoice!  Please visit
