CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES

On April 5 & 6 the annual Catholic Relief Services Collection will take place.  This fund supports Catholic Church organizations that carry out international relief and solidarity efforts.  Programs include relief and resettlement services to the victims of persecution, war, and natural disasters, as well as development projects to improve the living conditions of the poor; advocacy on behalf of the powerless; peace and reconciliation work for people suffering from violence; and legal and support services for poor immigrants.  We appreciate your support for this important work of the Church.  There is an envelope in your collection packet.

PROMISE 2008

Please return your Letter of Intent as soon as possible.  Fr. George Kunkel has asked all St. Vincent Ferrer parishioners to increase their Sunday Collection for 2008 by at least $100.  If you need another Letter of Intent Form call the SVF parish office at 791-9030.

CATHOLIC MINISTRIES APPEAL

The Catholic Ministries Appeal continues this week in our parish.  Our parish response to the Catholic Ministries Appeal to date is $14,776. We are most grateful to those who have been so generous.  We ask that everyone in our parish participate with a gift of any amount.  Every gift helps.

                -Fr. George Kunkel

3rd SUNDAY OF EASTER

In today’s Gospel, two of Jesus’ followers recognized him in the blessing, breaking, and sharing of bread.  In every Eucharist, we have an Emmaus experience.  We know Jesus present in his word and in the breaking of the bread.  Our awareness of his presence in the Eucharist makes our hearts burn within us.  The presence of Jesus in the Eucharist makes it possible for us to recognize Jesus everywhere – especially in the people we walk with in life every day.

Prayer Moment:  Fill me with joy in your presence, Risen Lord.

IN MEMORIAM

Your prayers are requested for the soul of Clare Leroux whose Mass of Christian Burial was held March 31.

VOCATION VIEW

Recognize Jesus in the breaking of bread.  Your heart is burning within you.  Think about the possibility of walking the path with Jesus as a brother, sister, priest, or deacon.

(Luke 24:13-35)

SCHOOL NEWS

SVF School Stories

Did You Know??

The students and staff at St. Vincent's participated in a retreat on Wednesday, March 19, during Holy Week. A prayerful day was spent for everyone. Our activities included guided meditation, various religious videos, a "Living Rosary", the Way of the Cross, a rock story and activity, and our "Rice Bowl Luncheon”.

The luncheon was a very powerful activity. All students and staff were given a bowl of rice for lunch. We spoke about people in third world countries who only receive this amount of food for a day if they are fortunate enough to receive food at all. Everybody had a better understanding of our world's hunger issues after this day!

Our thanks to Mrs. McMichael, our Director of Faith Formation, and all of our staff and parents who helped plan this great day!

GIVE THE GIFT OF SIGHT

Thank you for the Give the Gift of Sight drive at St. Vincent.  This successful collection of eyeglasses would never have been possible without your support and generous donations.  Our community donated 103 pairs of eyeglasses.  If you missed the collection, you can still donate your eyeglasses at any LensCrafters stores or go to www.givethegiftofsight.org for information on how to support this charitable foundation.  Thank you!
