SUNDAY OF EASTER
In
today’s Gospel, Jesus reassures us of his gentle and abiding care for us. As his followers, we hear his voice, we follow him, and we
will never perish. Nothing –
absolutely nothing – can snatch us out of God’s hands.
When we are burdened with great pain and worry because of the things that
bear down on us, no other words can offer us more assurance.
God is with us in it all. We
are not alone; we are secure in the palm of God’s hand.
Living
the Word: Sit
quietly for five minutes each day this week and picture yourself secure and
peaceful in the palm of God’s hand.

BUDGET
RESTRAINTS REQUIRE CHANGES FOR ST. VINCENT’S PASTORAL STAFF
I wanted to notify the parish that due to budget restraints I will be
making changes within St. Vincent Ferrer Pastoral Staff.
I made this very difficult decision after much thought and prayer.
The positions of Director of Religious Education and Pastoral Associate
are being melded into a single, full-time position of Director of Faith
Formation. SVF Director of
Religious Education, Sister Kaye Lednik and SVF Pastoral Associate, Judy Verny
have been encouraged to apply.
I intend to form a committee of parishioners and staff to be engaged in the interview process for the Director of Faith Formation. I hope to fill the position by July 1, 2007.
COME
HOLY SPIRIT!
We
had a very uplifting and prayerful celebration at the sacrament of Confirmation
on Wednesday evening. We could feel the power of the Holy Spirit in our
assembly. Special thanks to all the
sponsors and parents as well as the catechists, teachers, volunteers and Sr.
Kaye who assisted the candidates with their formation and preparation.
THANK
YOU TO OUR OFFICE PERSONNEL
Wednesday,
April 25 was Administrative Professional/Secretary’s Day.
Here at St. Vincent we are very blessed to have a great office staff who
help to coordinate the activities and ministries of the parish and school on a
day-to-day basis. A special
“Thank You” to Eileen Fritsch, our parish secretary; Ursula Hilbert, our
parish bookkeeper; Linda Schmits our secretary for the religious education
office; and Sandy Stallo our school secretary.
-Fr. George Kunkel

SOCIAL
JUSTICE
DARFUR
AWARENESS NIGHT- TUESDAY MAY 1st
6 – 9 p.m.
Cincinnatians of all ages, races, cultures and faiths are invited to join
together at Fountain Square for a gripping presentation about the conditions in
Darfur, where almost 400,000 people have died in the past three years. Speakers
include Nick Clooney and Mayor Mark Mallory. We will raise our voices to help
stop the horrific violence and suffering.
The
group will then walk to the Freedom Center to hear more from guest speakers,
including a local refugee family, about the US response to the crisis. Our focus
is what we as individuals can do to help. Through stories, video, and prayer,
this event will convey the notion that, while one voice can have an impact, only
the power of many voices united can bring an end to this terrible tragedy.
Presented by Greater Cincinnati Advocates for Darfur.
DINING
FOR DARFUR II – WEDNESDAY, MAY 2nd
On
May 2nd, Max & Erma’s Rookwood and Hofbrauhaus Newport will donate 20% of
their food and beverage sales to Darfur relief charities. A special coupon
is required and can be found at http://www.cincyunitedfordarfur.org
In
September, the Greater Cincinnati Advocates for Darfur Coalition raised hundreds
of dollars for Darfur relief efforts thanks to the benevolent restaurants that
donated portions of their sales.
