PASTOR’S
DESK
THANK
YOU!
The
Lord has truly blessed us with a wonderful celebration of Christmas this year.
Once again, my thanks to all the members of the Art and Environment
Ministry for the long hours they spent in making our Church so beautiful. We have received many compliments about how nice it looks.
I want to thank all of the members of the Music Ministry for enhancing
our liturgies with song and music. The
choir, the contemporary ensemble and all the instrumentalists certainly made a
joyful sound for Jesus’ birthday. I
am grateful, too, for all of our Lectors, Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers
and Greeters, and the members of our Liturgy Planning Team and the Worship
Commission for helping to arrange and plan the liturgies.
Finally,
a sincere “thank you” to all of our parishioners and visitors for your
contributions to our Christmas offering. I
am deeply grateful for your generosity. Our
parish’s ministry is blessed by your gifts.
JANUARY
DAYS
The
celebration of Christmas concludes Sunday January 13th, with the
Baptism of the Lord. Ordinary Time
then resumes until we begin Lent in February.
In the meantime, several observances occur this month, including the
National Week of Prayer for Church Vocations – January 13-January 19; Martin
Luther King Day on January 21 and the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s
decision on abortion (Roe vs. Wade) on January 22.
WEEKDAY
COMMUNION SERVICES FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 7
I
will be out of town from January 7 thru January 11 to attend a workshop.
There will be a Communion Service each morning at 8:30 a.m. and Mass on
Wednesday January 9 at 8:30 a.m. in the church celebrated by Fr. Chris Coleman.
VOCATION
AWARENESS WEEK
From
January 13-19, we celebrate Vocation Awareness Week.
A “vocation” is a calling and we all have one.
As God is the source of all lasting good, the vocation He is calling us
to will be the one that will bring our lives the greatest joy and satisfaction
possible. During this week, we pray
in a special way for those whom God is calling to the priesthood, religious life
and diaconate. We pray that they
will have courage, humility, charity and obedience to hear and respond to
God’s call. Listen as well to
God’s call in your own life and be willing to prayerfully discern what He
wants for you. If you have
questions call the Vocation Director, Fr. Kyle Schnippel at 421-3131 or e-mail
vocations@catholiccincinnati.org

EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
The
word “epiphany” comes from a Greek word meaning “the manifestation or
making known of a god.” The god
in our “epiphany” is spelled with a capital “G” – the one, true God of
creation. The magi’s journey
symbolizes a spiritual search for the true God.
When they find a God in the infant Jesus, they turn away from evil,
represented by Herod, and chart a new course.
We turned our backs on evil and began a new journey when we were
initiated into the life of the Church. Like
the magi, we follow a bright star – the light of Christ.
Prayer
Moment: God
of All Creation, bless our spiritual search - as together we journey toward your
Son Jesus.
BAPTISM
PREPARATION CLASS
The
baptism preparation class is for parents who are having their first child
baptized. The next class will be
offered on Sunday, March 9 at 1:15 p.m. in the Community Building Chapel.
You must call the parish office 791-9030, to register.
Reminder:
Baptisms will not be scheduled during Lent.
The first Sunday of Lent is February 10, 2008.
IN
MEMORIAM
Your
prayers are requested for the souls of Lorrie Clarke whose Mass of Christian
Burial was held December 24 and James McDermott whose Mass of Christian Burial
was held December 29.
VOCATION VIEW
Many
adults never grow up. They continue
to traipse across the earth looking for a shining star. Tell them who lights up your life, O Christian.

Please
keep in your prayers all the men and women who are currently in the military
serving our country.

FAITH
FORMATION
EUCHARISTIC SUNDAY III - The next Eucharistic Sunday will be held Sunday, January 13th, during the 10:30 AM Mass. Children preparing for First Eucharist will celebrate the theme, “We Listen.” The Second Graders of the parish will reflect on listening to the word of God. God’s presence with us is manifested in the gift of the Scriptures, God’s own word to us. How do we as a parish listen attentively to the word of God and allow the Spirit of love to transform our hearts and our minds – our very lives?
Consider
taking one of our spiritually renewing companions for a leisurely break on a
quiet evening or afternoon. Stop
by the ushers’ room
located near the main entrance of the church to
browse the wide selection of reading material
in the bookcase.
