ALL SOULS DAY MEMORIAL MASS
Our annual Memorial Mass for the Faithful Departed will be celebrated on All Souls Day, Monday November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. We will remember in particular all of our parishioners who have died since last November, as well as those members of our local community whose funeral services were held here at St. Vincent’s. As part of our ritual of remembering, their names will be prayerfully read and a candle symbolizing the light of their eternal life will be presented to a family member or friend who is present. You are invited to inscribe the names of your beloved dead in the register at the rear of the Church. Each of these loved ones, along with all the faithful departed will have a prominent place in our prayers throughout the month of November.

ALL SAINTS DAY

Sunday, November 1st is the Feast of All Saints.  At times the lives of many of the canonized Saints may seem a bit distant or remote from our everyday experiences and situations.  All Saints Day gives us the opportunity to honor the unsung heroes and heroines of our Catholic heritage – the men and women in our families and circle of friends who lived good and loving lives and are now with the Lord in heaven.

Baptism preparation class

The baptism preparation class is for parents who are having their first child baptized.  The next class will be offered on Sunday, November 22 at 1:15 p.m. in the Community Building Chapel.  You must call the parish

LECTORS’ SCHEDULE

We are about to put together the next lectors schedule for Dec-Feb.  Any questions or concerns should be directed to Susan Aloisio, 745-9181 or smaloisio@fuse.net by Monday, November 2.

These Scriptures proclaim: Let us rejoice in all the men and women, blest in the eyes of the Lord, who celebrate the heavenly liturgy. They stand in God’s holy place and sing of the love the Father has bestowed upon them through the blood of the Lamb.

Readings for the week

30th Sunday in ordinary time

About to leave Jericho, Jesus heard the commotion made by the blind beggar, Bartimaeus, who called to the Son of David. Bartimaeus acknowledged the royal lineage of Jesus and also believed in his healing powers.
Jesus responded by calling Bartimaeus’ friends to bring the beggar to him.  Bartimaeus threw off his cloak once he was healed.  Some say this gesture was symbolic of Bartimaeus shedding his old, sinful ways for the new life Jesus had given him.

Reflection: All of us can sometimes feel like Bartimaeus.  We know what the right thing is, but sometimes our friends or family members try to quiet us because we embarrass them.  It may be that our friends even agree with us and know that we are right, but it’s our voice that embarrasses them.  We’re causing a stir.
Bartimaeus’ friends were embarrassed by his loud shouts to Jesus, but Jesus honored his faith.  In the end,
